- 1). Secure one end of the control arm to the lower crossmember under the Passat with a retaining bolt, but do not torque it down. The exact orientation will depend on the year and model of your Passat.
- 2). Align the mounting holes on the control arm to the bottom of the strut and the wheel hub assembly, respectively.
- 3). Support the wheel hub assembly and shock with a jack. Raise the jack to compress the wheel hub and shock assembly to ride height (the full weight of the vehicle on the spring/shock).
- 4). Torque the control arm bots to the torque specifications listed for your year of Passat with a torque wrench.
